2018 CEF Telecom call - Automated Translation (CEF-TC-2018-2) CEF-TC-2018-2-Translation Closed!

Objectives

The priority outcomes of this call for proposals are to continue the language resource collection for specific domains and to stimulate the porting and integration of the eTranslation service to online systems requiring multilingual functionality via generic services.

Actions

Proposals must address only one of the following two Objectives:

1. Collaborative language resource projects: projects to make language resource provision to CEF Automated Translation easier. This will include identification, processing (anonymization, aggregation, alignment, conversion, etc.) and collecting language resources in the Member States.

Priority will be given to:

  • language resources in those CEF languages for which there is not enough data available to offer good quality automated translation services (so called "under-resourced" languages).
  • language resources in the domains relevant for the CEF Digital Service Infrastructures (DSIs), taking into account the demand for addressing the specific language or DSI

2. Integration projects: projects to make online services multilingual with existing technology, working on real systems (CEF DSIs and/or national online services and portals related to CEF DSI services). Projects are expected to use the eTranslation service 3 (alone or in combination with other non-commercial/commercial tools and services) and are expected to become fully functional and integrated in the relevant services within the duration of the project.

Priority will be given to proposals applying mature cutting-edge language technologies other than machine translation (e.g. for interactive translation, semantic interoperability).
