Security research gets its place on CORDIS website

A new specially dedicated page has been launched within CORDIS website in order to gather all information, events and highlights focused on security research.

New technologies, intelligent services and know-how for the security of citizens are featured online on the new CORDIS FP7 Security Research Information Service. The service brings news, interviews, events and highlights from the first European R&D funding scheme with a specific focus on security research, the Seventh Research Framework Programme (FP7).

Overall, the budget for security research amounts to Euro 1.4 billion for the 2007-2013 period. All 45 projects that have been funded so far are featured in this new area on CORDIS. In July 2009, the European Commission will launch the next round of funding.

Project areas covered by the service include:

  • Increasing the security of citizens
  • Increasing the security of infrastructures and utilities
  • Intelligent surveillance and border security
  • Restoring security and safety in case of crisis
  • Improving security systems integration, interconnectivity and interoperability
  • Security and society
  • Security research coordination and structuring
