31 M€ to support researchers re-integration
The European Commission on October 9th, 2008, a Call for Proposals to support the re-integration of EU researchers within the Marie Curie Actions. This Call is launched under the 2009 Work Programme ‘People’ of the 7th EC Framework Programme for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration Activities. This Call is funded with 31 M€.
The Specific Programme “People”, within the VII FP, offers individuals the opportunity to follow a career in research. European researchers should be encouraged to stay in Europe whilst at the same time the best researchers in the world should be attracted by European research excellence and infrastructures. Building on the positive experiences with the “Marie Curie Actions”, the “People” programme should encourage individuals to enter the profession of researcher; structure their research training by offering options; and, encourage mobility within the same sector. The mobility of researchers is not only key to the career development of researchers but also vital to the sharing and transfer of knowledge between countries and sectors.
More specifically, for the Call for Proposals for Re-Integration Grants – FP7-PEOPLE-2009-RG, the aim is to support training and career development for researchers under Marie Curie Actions:

The duration of these grants is between 2 and 3 years.
- Marie Curie International Re- integration Grants: provide financial assistance to researchers who wish to return and find a job in Europe after they have worked in research in a non-associated third country for at least three years. The duration of these grants is between 2 and 4 years.
