Commission urges insurance companies to participate in the Solvency II Quantitative Impact Study
The Commission has launched a fifth Quantitative Impact Study (QIS5) that will be run by the Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors (CEIOPS) from August to November 2010. The European Commission strongly encourages insurance and reinsurance companies across the EU to participate in this exercise.

According to first estimates by Eurostat, the construction sector increased by 2.7% in the euro area and by 3.5% in the EU27 in June 2010, compared with the previous month, because the production in May fell by 0.7% and 0.1% respectively. Compared with June 2009, output in June 2010 increased by 3.1% in the euro area and 5.4% in the EU27.
