Brussels encourages the work of researchers

The OJEU has published three calls for proposals to support research within and outside the European Union through the Marie Curie Fellowships. The grants, with a total budget of € 151 million, are targeted to researchers from third countries wishing to carry out their work temporarily in the EU, Europeans who want to go to a high-level research organisation in a third country and who want to investigate in any Member State.

The three calls for proposals develop the specific programme People for research, technological development and demonstration activities, under the Seventh Framework Programme. This initiative promotes the entry of persons into the research profession, strengthening, quantitatively and qualitatively, the human potential in research and technology in Europe, including as regards the potential of women.

The first of the calls issued in the Official Journal of the European Union of March 17th by the European Commission refers to the Marie Curie Intraeuropan fellowships and have a total annual budget of 95 million euros. The other two calls funded mobility of researchers from third countries to the EU and from the EU to the outside, also through the Marie Curie fellowship program and have a budget of 28 million euros each.

Deadline for all the calls for proposals is on August 17th 2010, and documentation for these can be found on the Cordis website.
