Commission opens a public consultation on the European Interoperability Strategy

The European Commission Interoperable Delivery of European eGovernment Services to public Administrations, Businesses and Citizens (IADBC) has announced the opening of a public consultation on the European Interoperability Strategy (EIS). The consultation opened on the 23rd February 2010 and closes on the 6th April 2010.

In 2009 the European Commission has been working on the elaboration of the European Interoperability Strategy (EIS) for European Public Services in close cooperation with the concerned Commission services and with the Members States as well as with the Candidate Countries and EEA Countries as observers.

Now, the European Commission Interoperable Delivery of European eGovernment Services to public Administrations, Businesses and Citizens (IADBC) launches a public consultation on the implementation of the European Interoperability Strategy for European Public Services. The period of consultation goes from 23 February 2010 to 06 April 2010.

The main objectives of the European Interoperability Strategy for European Public Services are:

  • To identify commonalities and areas of shared interest at Member State and EU level
  • To establish consensus around a strategic action plan for interoperability, to be implemented in the coming years by both the Member States and the Commission.

An EIS Info Day was organised on the 1st of December 2009 aiming at presenting and informing the participants on the EIS outline as well as the methodologies and the approach used during the elaboration process of the EIS. The objective of the consultation is to get substantial feedback on how to implement the agreed strategy.

The consultation is supported by two documents titled "EIS document for public consultation" and "Annex to the EIS document for public consultation". Both of them are available at the IADBC website.
