Young designers for Europe Day 2010

Until 30 November 2009, young people born after 1985 have submitted their designs for the poster competition of the day in Europe. Among the candidates, a jury comprising representatives of the European Commission and European experts in graphic design and communication has selected ten finalists. Now, all European citizens have the opportunity to vote for their favorite.

The European Commission launched in autumn a competition for young graphic designers to create its Europe Day poster for the year 2010. A panel of European experts in the field of design and communication chose ten finalists among more than 1 700 entries. The ten shortlisted proposals are now open to a public vote on the website of the competition.

The winning design will become the official poster for the Europe Day on 9 March 2010 and beyond and distributed in all 27 EU countries.  The overall winner and the two runners-up will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Brussels to attend an award ceremony in May 2010 and a cash prize of €2 000 and €1 000 respectively.

Reflecting the theme chosen for the Europe Day poster competition, ‛I ♥ Europe’, the contributions of the ten finalists may also be used in exhibitions organised by the European Commission or EU representatives in the member states as well as in promotional material.

Votes can be submitted on the website of the competition until the 31 January 2010, and voting can be followed on Facebook.

This is not the only graphic design competition organized by the European Commission: deadline to submit proposals for the contest "Draw me a right!", aimed at children and young people from the EU, is still opened.
