Communication from the Commission on state subsidies for hiring disabled workers

The Commission has published a communication to set the criteria for the analysis of the compatibility of State aid
for the employment of disadvantaged and disabled workers subject to individual notification.The aim is that companies of the member states increase the number of people with disabilities in the workforce.

The promotion of employment and social cohesion is a central aim of the economic and social policies of the Community and of its Member States. To get the aids, Member States should demonstrate that the it will address the objective of common interest pursuant to the Commission Regulation (EC) No 800/2008 declaring certain categories of aid compatible with the common market in application of Articles 87 and 88 of the Treaty.

In its analysis, the Commission will consider the number and categories of workers concerned by the measure, employment rates of the categories of workers concerned by the measure on the national and/or regional level and in the undertaking or undertakings concerned, unemployment rates for the categories of workers concerned by the measure on the national and/or regional level and particularly marginalised sub-groups within the broader categories of disabled and disadvantaged workers.
