Improvements in policies and measures for water management in the Mediterranean sea
EuropeAid published last April 11tb a bid to improve hydrologic practices in the Mediterranean water.
The overall objective of this project is to promote the adoption of integrated water resources management (IWRM) governance principles through their use for the definition and implementation of water management policies and measures, at both national and regional levels, including the support to measures enabling the success of these processes. The tender will be funded through the DCI (Development Cooperation Instrument).
As regards the specific objectives:
- To promote the development of integrated water resources management policies and measures in partner countries.
- To promote the development of integrated water resources management policies and measures at regional level, in particular to support the elaboration of the Mediterranean water strategy.
- To identify priority actions to be undertaken, assisting in estimating the related costs and, where appropriate, facilitate reinforced donors' coordination.
Commission's projection
The contract will be published on the Oficial Journal of the European Union in May 2009, and it will have a total budget of 1,025,000 EUR, under the budget line 21 04 01 — Environment and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources including Energy.
