The European Commission has publised on the Official Journal of the European Union september 26, 2008 a call for expressions of interest in membership in the scientific risk assessment Advisory Structure of Scientific Committees and database of experts. Closing date for submitting applications for membership in the Advisory Structure is 31 October 2008.

The call is addressed to scientists who wish to be considered for membership in the Advisory Structure of the European Commission in the fields of consumer safety, public health and the environment. Application form are available at the internet.

The Advisory Structure on scientific risk assessment in the areas of consumer safety, public health and the environment includes the following:

• Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (hereinafter ‘SCCS’);
• Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks (hereinafter ‘SCHER’);
• Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (hereinafter ‘SCENIHR’);
• Pool of Scientific Advisors on Risk Assessment (hereinafter ‘the Pool’), which will support the activities of the Scientific Committees.

An application will be deemed admissible only if it includes:

• Completed application form,
• Curriculum vitae,
• List of the applicant's scientific publications,
• Declaration of interests completed in a true manner.
