Call for proposals for projects supporting information activities for young people and youth workers on the 2009 European elections

Via a new Calls for Proposals, the Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Union, will finance roughly 1,500,000 euros towards projects supporting information activities for young people and youth workers on the 2009 European elections.

The Calls for Proposals is part of the ‘Youth in Action’ Programme is aimed at supporting projects which promote information and communication actions aimed at young people, youth leaders and people working for youth organisations in order to encourage young people to vote in the 2009 European Parliament elections and to inform them of the importance of this ballot.

The Call for proposals for projects supporting information activities for young people and youth workers on the 2009 European elections will dispose of a budget of 1.5 million euros y the financial assistance from the Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) may not be granted for more than 80 % of a project's total eligible expenses.

Given the specific national features of the ballot and the cultural identity of each European Union country, the scope of each project proposed will be confined to a European Union country. The European dimensio of the projects will be based on the priority theme, activities to be organised and the possibility of carrying out the proposed activities with European partners.

Only proposals submitted are only eligible from non-profit-making, non governmental organisations, National Youth Councils (with legal status and legally established for one year prior to the date of submission of the application) or bodies operating in the youth sector at European level (ENGO). Youth organisations affiliated to political movements are not, however, eligible for this call for proposals.

The Agency proposes financing a maximum of 27 projects, thus one project for each Member State, in order to cover the entire European Union. However, depending on the number and quality of projects submitted, the Agency reserves the right not to guarantee full coverage of the European Union Member States. The Agency also reserves the possibility of not allocating all the funds available.

Projects must start between 1 January 2009 and 28 February 2009.

Applications must be sent to the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency no later than 15 July 2008, the date of the postmark being conclusive. The complete text including the Calls for Proposals abd application forms is availble at the EACEA webiste.
