Researchers may access confidential data for scientific purposes
On the 10th April the European Commission (EC) published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ), its decision from the 18th March 2008 to release a list of bodies whose researchers may access confidential data for scientific purposes. The decision have been released under Acts adopted under the EC Treaty/Euratom.
Some of the bodies that fulfill the required conditions and should be added to the list of agencies include:
- The Directorate for Research, Studies and Statistics (Direction de l’Animation de la Recherche, des Études et des Statistiques - DARES) in the Ministry of Labour, Labour Relations and Solidarity, Paris, France.
- The Research Foundation of State University of New York (RFSUNY), Albany, USA.
- The Finnish Centre for Pensions, (Eläketurvakeskus — ETK), Finland.
In the list of agencies, a number of economic and research bodies are also included:
- World Bank
- European Central Bank
- Spanish Central Bank
- Support to the European Research Area (SERA) Unit, Directorate General Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.
