The European Commission launches a new Calls for Porposal eContentplus

The European Commission launched a new Call for proposals for indirect actions under the multiannual Community Programme to make digital content in Europe more accessible, usable and exploitable (The eContentplus Programme. The total budget earmarked for co-financing indirect actions is EUR 42,5 million and the deadline for receipt of proposals by the Commission is 12 June 2008 at 17.00 (Luxembourg local time).

The European Commission has adopted a Work Programme and a call for proposals for the year 2008 to implement the eContentplus Programme. The present call is open for proposals for indirect actions addressing the following areas and the following activities.

Geographic information

  • Best practice networks for geographic information. 

Educational content

  • Best practice networks for educational content.
  • Targeted projects for educational content.

Digital libraries

  • Best practice networks for interoperability of digital libraries.
  • Best practice networks for the use and services of the of the European Digital Library.
  • Targeted projects for cultural content.
  • Targeted projects for scientific/scholarly content.
  • A Thematic network for co-ordinating and supporting the European Digital Library.

Participation in the eContentplus Programme is open to legal entities established in the EU Member States. It is also open to legal entities established in EFTA States that are contracting parties to the EEA Agreement (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), in accordance with the provisions of that Agreement.

The total budget earmarked for co-financing indirect actions is up to 42,5 million euros.

The deadline that has been made for receipt of proposals by the Commission is 12 June 2008 at 17.00.
