A new portal brings access to information and data on the Trans-European Transport Network
The European Commission has launched a new web portal to display updated information about the state of the projects and development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The site includes satellite-based dynamic maps, as well as data, statistics and other interactive elements.
The new public web portal on the Trans-European Transport Network, TENtec, includes facts and figures about the network as well as maps that can be downloaded, photo galleries, events and other relevant information regarding the development of the projects. Its main objective is raise citizens and businesses' awareness about the benefits of network to provide a faster safer and more sustainable transport.
Th new portal is a user focused tool which allows the storage and management of technical and financial information used to assess and manage the projects funded through the Trans-European Transport Network TEN-T programme. It also represents a bridge to Member States ministries and other key-actors such as the European Investment Bank and some other neighbouring countries.
Thanks to its geographic information system, the TENtec portal also serves as a support for the design process of future political and budgetary scenarios and facilitates the monitoring of electronic submission of applications and proposals and its reporting. The portal allows the management of the workflows required for the publication of the Commission's Decisions and the selection of projects financed within the TEN-T programme, both in regard to the presentation and the reception of proposals.
The collection and integration of data allow them to be used not only for developments in the field of transport but also in other areas such as neighborhood or environmental policies or to de exploited by Eurostat. The multiple use of data reverts in a greater efficiency is trans-European transport network planning as well as in a global reduction in costs.
