A new revised EURES network, modern and flexible to facilitate labour mobility in the EU
The European Commission has adopted its Decision to modernise and improve the European job mobility network, EURES. The new EURES network will include new members and will be more flexible in order to meet job-seekers and employers' needs. Specific attention will be paid to young people by supporting targeted mobility programmes and new collaboration schemes between public and private job search organisations will be introduced.
The new revised EURES job mobility mobility network represents one more effort from the Commission to address the current high level of unemployment in the EU. With this Decision, the European Commission intends to reorient EURES by focusing on matching, placement and recruitment based on economic needs. EURES will thus becomes a results-oriented tool based on demand in order to meet the needs of Member States' labour markets.
EURES will now allow unemployed people and job-seekers to directly get in contact with employers. Companies will benefit a pool of candidates to find the candidates with skills and profiles to make their organisations grow. Candidates and companies will also have access to a new portal where they will fond detailed information and a wider range of services.
Thirty-one European employment services are currently part of the EURES network. Further to Commission's Decision the number of member will increase and the collaboration between public and private employment agencies will be encouraged in order to provide a better response to existing vacancies. One of the essential elements of the revision will focus on the responses provided by EURES to employment needs from youth people who are particularly affected by unemployment and, on the other hand, have also a higher propensity to be mobile when seeking a job.
This revision is part of the process put in place by the Commission by testing the functioning of the EURES network in order to make it a pan-European employment service. The service provided by EURES through its website has received so far over four million visitors per month and has led to around 50,000 placements per year.
