The Representation of the European Commission in Spain has launched a mobile application which can be downloaded from Android phones and iPhone, in order to bring the latest news from the European Commission, the EU events and press calls. In addition the European Commission also presented an iGoogle gadget with the same characteristics.

The Representation of the European Commission in Spain has launched a new mobile application that can be downloaded from Android phones and iPhone. The application displays the latest news from the European Commission and the EU events taking place in Spain plus awards, workshops, courses and other events of interest to citizens. For a more specialized audience, the application warns of the latest press calls. On the other hand the Representation has also presented a iGoogle gadget that publishes the same content for Google's personalized pages.

With the creation of this app the Representation of the European Commission in Spain is aware of the importance of this channel for the dissemination of its activities and the EU news. Francisco Fonseca, Head of Representation defends this way of presenting the activities of the European Commission in Spain because he considers it as a basic and necessary step to communicate with citizens and also because the European information comes to them rather than having to actively sought. It aims to facilitate access to the EU content according to the new uses are being imposed. Mr Fonseca highlights that the applications are free so citizens have even easier access to the EU information.
