Euroscience Open Forum 2010 held in Turin

Since 2nd July and until 7th July, Turin is hosting the Euroscience Open Forum, a meeting which aims to boost scientific research and to study its impact on the European society.

Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF)  consists of an important meeeting that takes place every two years and is dedicated to scientific research and innovation and to their impact on society in a pan-European context.

This event involves leading scientists, researchers, young researchers, business people, entrepreneurs and innovators, policy makers, science and technology communicators and the general public to discuss the frontiers of scientific and technological research in Europe.

It aims to contribute to the development of a European Scientific Identity whilst bridging the gap between science and society, and to stimulate policies to support scientific research. It has a special interest on providing career openings and targeted programmes for postgraduates and young researchers also.

The meeting represents a unique opportunity of its kind in Europe: for six days Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF) will stage over 120 meetings and 20 Keynote Lectures given by high-calibre figures from the international world of science. Its programme includes all kind of scientific subjects.

This forum also has presented the new strategy of the Joint Research Centre (JRC). This document reinforces scientific support to EU policy-making.
