Brussels gives grants to support transport policy in the EU

The Official Journal of the European Union has published a Call for Proposals to grant subsidies to promote transport policy objectives. The policy priorities have been fixed in the 2010 Work Programme adopted by the European Commission. Main topics selected are road safety and internal market (for inland and maritime navigation). The total budget is EUR 2,250,000.

The European Commission intends to award grants to promote the objectives of the common transport policy according to the Call for Proposals for road safety and internal market (inland waterway transport) published on the 26th May 2010. The policy priorities have been set in the work programme for 2010 adopted by the Commission (COM(2010) 773 09.02.2010).

Objectives of this call for proposals

Taking into account the legislative initiatives described in the work programme for 2010, the Commission wishes to support operations reinforcing and developing its policies in the field of transport, particularly in the context set in the White Paper ‘European Transport policy for 2010: time to decide’ and its mid-term review ‘Keep Europe moving’ adopted in June 2006.

The scope and the results of these operations should enable the Commission to consolidate its initiatives and to renew them on the basis of current economic, social and technological trends within the European Union and beyond.
