64 million euros to improve the freight transport system

The Commission published in the Official Journal of the European Union the second call for proposals under the Programme of financial assistance to improve the environmental performance of the freight transport system Marco Polo II.

The European Commission has launched a new call for proposals for the selection procedure 2010 under the Second Marco Polo Programme.

The overall objectives of Marco Polo II Programme are to reduce congestion, to improve the environmental performance of the transport system and to enhance intermodal transport, thereby contributing to an efficient and sustainable transport system which provides EU added value without having a negative impact on economic, social or territorial cohesion.

With this call, with a global budget of 64 million euros, the following actions are funded:

  • Modal shift actions
  • Catalyst actions
  • Motorways of the sea actions
  • Common learning actions
  • Traffic avoidance actions

Deadline for submitting proposals to the European Commission's DG Transport ends on 18th May 2010.
