More than 1000 people, involved with culture in Brussels
"Culture in motion" conference and European Culture Forum will congregate in Brussels hundreds of people from all over the world in order to examine past, present and future of culture projects in the EU. During the Culture in motion conference, winners for the EU Prize for Literature will be presented.
As the registration closed last Friday more than 1000 people from Portugal to Armenia and Norway to South Africa, with many in between, had registered to attend the "Culture in motion" conference and the European Culture Forum 28-30 September in Brussels.
The Culture Programme Conference on Monday 28 September will present past and ongoing projects (funded by Culture 2000 and the Culture Programme 2007-2013), encouraging exchange of experience and good practice between cultural operators. The general objective of the Programme is to enhance the cultural area shared by Europeans and based on a common cultural heritage through the development of cultural cooperation between the creators, cultural players and cultural institutions of the countries taking part in the Programme, with a view to encouraging the emergence of European citizenship.
The European Culture Forum on 29-30 September brings together around 600 participants from culture civil society, Member States and EU institutions to take stock of progress in implementing the European Agenda for Culture. This document rightly sets out the key role of culture in the integration process and noted the need for appropriate tools to promote to the full Europe's cultural richness and diversity and thus achieve the ‘strategic objectives of prosperity, solidarity and security’ both inside and outside the EU
During the Culture in motion conference, the 2009 winners for the EU Prize for Literature will be presented. The twelve winner writers from Austria, Croatia, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Sweden that the European Commission announced in July will receive their awards.
