Snapshots of sustainable tourism

The European Commission has launched a photo contest within the framework of the project EDEN (European Destinations of Excellence). EDEN supports models of sustainable tourism development in the European Union. The project is based on national competitions that take place every year during which "destinations of excellence" are chosen by each participating country tour

The European Commission has launched the photography contest EDEN, within the framework of "European Destinations of Excellence", a project which promotes destinations outside the traditional offering its visitors an unforgettable experience in respect of local culture and environment natural environment.

Both professional and amateur photographers from the European Union are invited to show their vision of such spaces. The photographs selected as winners will be presented in Parliament later this year, and their authors will receive computers. The deadline for submission of photos is September 18th, and registration can be made at the contest website.

EDEN initiative was born in 2006 with the aim of contributing in particular to increase the visibility of new tourist destinations in Europe or emerging issue and that is the focus in this year is "Tourism and Protected Areas." In addition to this photographic competition, which is done for the first time in 2009, EDEN chooses a touristical destination in each participating country.
