The Commission studies the costs of renewable energy
The Directorate General for Energy and Transport of the European Commission has published a notice by which it intends to undertake an analysis of the financing of renewable energy in the European energy market in the face of energy goals by 2020.
The Commission has issued a call for tenders on the financing of renewable energy in the European energy market through its Directorate General for Energy and Transport.
The subject of the contract is to complete an assessment of the financing of renewable energy in the European energy market. This study includes specific tasks that will survey the current costs of renewable energy and the financing instruments available:
- Assess the costs of reaching the 2020 targets in all Member States.
- Explore the scope of existing and new financing instruments to meet these costs
- Explore the renewable energy sector's access to the capital market
- Develop recommendations for reforms to help ensure financing is available for the growth of renewable energy in the EU to meet the EU's renewable energy 2020 targets.
The Directorate General will receive bids from groups interested in running this study, which lasts approximately 7 months, until August 14, 2009 at 16.00.
