Nearly 2 million euros to support european cinema

The Directorate General for Information Society and Media of the European Commission has issued two calls for proposals on the MEDIA 2007 Programme, which finance, on the one hand, the promotion of European audiovisual works and professionals outside the Media countries, and on the other hand, the networking and mobility of students and trainers in Europe.

 

The Commission has published in the Official Journal of the European Union of June 19 two calls for proposals for a total value of 1.9 million euros under MEDIA 2007 programme, which aims to strengthen the audiovisual sector economically to enable it to perform in an optimal way through its cultural development of the industry with a powerful and diverse heritage and a valuable and accessible, and provide added value to the national aid.

The first of the calls, the call EACEA 10/09, with a total budget of 400,000 euros, is intended to support actions and activities that take place outside the member countries of the MEDIA program.

The objective is to support activities aimed at facilitating the access of professionals to markets and events held outside MEDIA countries and promote the distribution of audiovisual and cinematographic works outside MEDIA countries. The deadline for submitting proposals for this call is August 12, 2009.

Moreover, the call EACEA 16/09, whose overall budget is EUR 1,400,000, relates to the support for the networking and mobility of students and trainers in Europe.

The call will fund actions in the MEDIA countries aimed at developing the ability of future audiovisual professionals to understand and integrate the European dimension of their work, improving the training experience in the areas of economic, financial and trade in new audiovisual technologies and the development of scripts.

For this call, the deadline for submitting projects to the Directorate General for Information Society and Media is August 19.
