Venezuela excluded from EU list of beneficiaries for special incentive arrangement for sustainable development and good governance
According to Commission's Decision (2009/454/CE) of June 11th 2009, Decision 2008/938/CE where the list of the beneficiary countries which qualify for the special incentive arrangement for sustainable development and good governance was established is modified, excluding from such list the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
On August 2009, the European Union adopted Regulation (EC) Nº 732/2008, which established the application of generalised tariff preferences system for the period 2009-2011. This Regulation provided for the granting of a special incentive arrangement for sustainable development and good governance to developing countries which satisfy some specific requirements established under the Regulation.
According to the fulfilment of those requirements, the list of the beneficiary countries which qualified for the special incentive arrangement for sustainable development and good governance was established by Decision 2008/938/EC. However, given that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has not ratified the United Nations Convention against Corruption listed as a requirement for those countries, Venezuela has been excluded from the list of beneficiary countries for special incentive arrangement for sustainable development and good governance.
