Air safety: new airports fulfil security measures

The Official Journal of the European Union (L 145/23) has published the Commission Regulation (EC) No 483/2009 laying down measures for the implementation of the common basic standards on aviation security.

The Commission has verified certain security standards at airports in specific third countries and found them satisfactory, and that those countries have a good record of cooperation with the Community and its Member States. On that basis the Commission has decided to take steps to alleviate the problems identified above, in the case of passengers carrying liquids in the Republic of Korea airports of:

  • Seoul Incheon (ICN) airport
  • Pusan Gimhae (PUS) airport

The Commission Regulation is according to the recommendations from the the European Aviation Safety Agency is the centrepiece of the European Union’s strategy for aviation safety. The Agency mission is to promote the highest common standards of safety and environmental protection in civil aviation.
