1.2 M€ funding to support creativity and innovation in the youth sector

Notice has been published in the Official Journal of the European on June 3rd 2009 of the launch of a Call for Proposals under sub-Action 4.4 of the ‘Youth in Action’ Programme, aiming to support projects encouraging creativity and innovation in the youth sector. Interested applicants can submit their proposals by September 30th 2009 to the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency.

Following the Decision of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the European Year of Creativity and Innovation (2009), the European Commission has launched a Call for Proposals within the framework of sub-Action 4.4 of the ‘Youth in Action’ Programme, aiming at supporting projects encouraging creativity and innovation in the youth sector.

This call also takes into account the proposals put forward by the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions in the field of media literacy and which are laid down in the European Commission's Communication ‘A European approach to media literacy in the digital environment’. These proposals set a European approach to media literacy, at various levels.

Call for Proposals EACEA/12/09, referred to Action 4.4 — Projects encouraging creativity and innovation in the youth sector, will aim at identifying projects that target the introduction, implementation and promotion of innovative and qualitative elements in non-formal education and youth work. Innovative and qualitative elements may refer to the content of the proposed activities and/or, the methods used in view to run the activities, based on novel approaches in the field of non-formal education and youth.

In 2009, priority under this call will be assigned to projects focussing on the following themes:

  • Media literacy of young people
  • E-youth work

Projects must be set-up including activities of a non-profit-making purpose and come under the field of youth and non-formal education.

Eligible applicants, budget and deadline

Proposals must be submitted by non-profit organisations, either non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and networks, or public bodies, applying the same criteria to partner organizations. Applicants must, at the time when they submit their proposal, be legally registered for at least 2 years in one of the Programme Countries.

Projects must involve partners from at least four different Programme Countries (including the applicant organisation), of which at least one is a Member State of the European Union.

The total budget allocated to the cofinancing of projects under this call for proposals is estimated at 1.2 M€. Financial assistance from the Agency may not be granted for more than 65 % of a project’s total eligible expenses, and the the total maximum grant may not exceed 100.000€.
