Ministers of the 46 Bologna countries meet in Belgium

Ten years after the historical Bologna Declaration that resharped European higher education, another ministerial conference will take place in Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium), hosted by the Benelux Ministers in charge of this area. The meeting aims to to take stock of the achievements of the Bologna Process, set a new agenda, and agree priorities for the European Higher Education Area for the next decade up to 2020

The Benelux Ministers have invited their European colleagues in charge of higher education in the 46 countries participating in the Bologna Process, to jointly define political orientations for the coming 10 years.

An increasing number of countries around the world have shown their interest to be involved in a dialogue with the countries participating in the Bologna Process on how worldwide cooperation in higher education can be enhanced. At the same time there is growing interest among European countries to develop closer links with higher education systems around the world.

Therefore, for the first time, a Bologna Policy Forum will be organised between Ministers of the 46 Bologna countries and colleagues from different parts of the world to facilitate global dialogue. This Bologna Policy Forum will take place at the University of Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) in the framework of the Bologna Ministerial Conference.

Bologna is more than mere convergence of policies set by public authorities. Higher education institutions, staff and students all together have made an impressive contribution to the implementation and will continue to define the shape of the European Higher Education Area.
