Tallin hosts an international photography exhibition

Until 28 April, the best works from the international photo competition “Cultures on my street” will be shown in an exhibition at the EU House in Tallinn. The photo competition is organised by the European Commission within the framework of the European year of intercultural dialogue in 2008.

“Works submitted to the competition give a very clear idea of the cultural density that characterizes the environment around us, surrounding and influencing each and every person living in Europe," said Mr Urmas Oja, curator of the exhibition.

“There are many different countries and cultures in Europe as it is, but immigration in large numbers has turned our continent into a real melting pot. These photos show above all the welcoming attitude towards new experiences”, he added.

The aim of the year of intercultural dialogue was to discover and bring into the limelight the diversity and the common values that the EU shares in the world where our cultural surroundings keep expanding and becoming more and more complicated. The competition was open to anyone living in the EU – to the young and the old, both to professionals and amateurs - anyone could submit photos on how they see the intercultural dialogue.

All the winning photos are now being displayed in the EU House.
