Commission clears proposed acquisition of Vania and Polivé by Johnson & Johnson
The Official Journal of the European Union, OJEU, has published on February 28th 2009, Commission's authorisation for the announced concentration between Johnson & Johnson Consumer France, Vania and Laboratoires Polivé.
On January 14th 2009 the European Commission received the notification of a proposed concentration pursuant to Article 4 of the Merger Regulation (EC) No 139/2004, by which the undertaking Johnson & Johnson Consumer France SAS (‘Johnson & Johnson Consumer France’, France) controlled by the Johnson & Johnson group (USA) acquires control of the whole of the undertakings Vania Expansion SNC (‘Vania’, France) and Laboratoires Polivé SNC (‘Polivé’, France).
Main activities of concerned undertakings
- Johnson & Johnson Consumer France is part of the large U.S. multinational, and it is active in production and sale of cosmetic ans hygiene products in France.
- Vania is especialist in sale of femininine protection and cosmetic products in France.
- Polivé sells feminine protection, cosmetic, wound care and baby care products in France.
After examining the facts and hearing all interested parties, Commission decided on February 18th 2009, not to oppose such notified concentration and to declare it compatible with the common market.
