EU tourist facilities in ports study

The Commission has launched a study on tourist facilities in ports in order to study benefits for ports to invest in infrastructure and facilities for receiving tourists.

Following the Action Plan on Integrated Maritime Policy (COM(2007) 575 final), the Commission has launched an external study to analyse the benefits for ports to invest in infrastructure and facilities for receiving tourists, notably through cruise tourism. This study examines the potential benefits and risks associated with such investments from a market perspective as well as the impact of costs to comply with environmental legislation and of measures to ensure sustainable development.

Workshop

A workshop will be organised in Brussels before the study is finalised in order to get endorsement on the draft results of the study so far and include complementary inputs.
