Non-opposition to the concentration between DPWL/ZIM/CONTARSA

On July 10th, the Official Journal of the European Union published the Commission's decision not to  oppose the notified concentration by which DP World Ltd  and ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, acquire joint control over  Contarsa Sociedad de Estiba, SA by way of purchase of shares.

The proposed concentration was notified to the Commission in May 26th. After examination of the notification, the Commission has decided not to oppose the notified operation and to declare it compatible with the common market and with the EEA Agreement. 

The business activities of the undertakings concerned are:

  • DP World Ltd (Public, DIX:DPW), is one of the largest marine terminal operators in the world with 45 terminals and 13 new developments across 29 countries. Its dedicated, experienced and professional team of more than 30,000 serves customers in some of the most dynamic economies in the world.
  • ZIM Integrated Shipping Services is a global transportation (container liner shipping services) and logistics services, offering more than 60 weekly services with rapid transit times to 180 ports of call, end-to-end multi-modal services reaching destinations on five continents, full-service logistics, including state-of-the-art hubs in Asia, the Americas and Europe, and operation of container terminals.
  • Contarsa Sociedad de Estiba, SA is the Port of Tarragona’s container terminal loading and unloading concessionary.
