Non-opposition to a notified concentration between Deutsche Bahn and Transfesa

On 18 March 2008, the Commission decided not to oppose the above notified concentration between the German Railways, Deutsche Bahn and Transfesa. Deutsche Bahn acquired the shares in July 2007 and on the 4th June 2008, the European Commission declared that the procedure compatible with the common market.

Transportes Ferroviarios Especiales, S.A., (Transfesa) is the parent company of the Group of entities which are dedicated to carry out all the operations within the logistics chain in order to offer integrated door-to-door services, including transportation, warehousing, final delivery and provision of updated information to clients on the location of their goods.Transfesa Group has subsidiary companies which are grouped into 5 categories:

  • Commercial Subsidiaries.
  • Railway Transportation.
  • Road Transportation.
  • Vehicle Logistics Centres.
  • Other participations.
