Proposed concentration between Renolit, Evonik Degussa and Suncoat

On the 16th May 2008, the European Commission published in the OJ prior notification of a concentration between Renolit, Evonik Degussa and Suncoat.

On 7 May 2008, the Commission received a notification of a proposed concentration by which the undertakings Renolit AG (‘Renolit’, Germany) controlled by JM Gesellschaft für industrielle Beteiligungen mbH & Co. KGaA and Evonik Degussa GmbH (‘Evonik Degussa’, Germany) belonging to the RAG group acquire joint control of Suncoat GmbH (‘Suncoat’, Germany) by way of purchase of shares.

RENOLIT AG is an international leader in the manufacture of high-quality thermoplastic films and products. This independent family-run business, which has been setting benchmarks for quality and innovation for over 60 years, now employs a workforce of approximately 4,300 employees at its more than 30 production sites and sales companies.

Evonik Industries operates in attractive areas of specialty chemicals, a field in which it ranks among the top global players. We are already positioned among the market leaders in more than 80 percent of our activities and we are systematically increasing this position.

Suncoat Products Inc. is a Canadian research and manufacturing company specializing in natural, earth-friendly cosmetics and personal care products.

The Commission invites interested third parties to submit their possible observations on the proposed operation to the Commission. Observations must reach the Commission not later than the 16th May 2008 at the following address:
