Proposed concentration between the chemical companies Ineos and BASF Assets

On 7 May 2008, the Commission received a notification of a proposed concentration by which the undertaking Ineos Group Limited (‘Ineos’, United Kingdom) acquires control of a plant of the undertaking BASF plc, controlled by BASF SE (‘BASF’, United Kingdom) by way of purchase of assets.

INEOS is a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and oil products. It comprises 19 businesses each with a major chemical company heritage. Our production network spans 76 manufacturing facilities in 20 countries throughout the world.

BASF is a chemical company with a product portfolio ranging from chemicals, plastics, agricultural products and fine chemicals to crude oil and natural gas.

The Commission invites interested third parties to submit their possible observations on the proposed operation to the Commission. Observations must reach the Commission at this address by the 26th May 2008:
