Ireland's Forest Management Scheme

The European Commission (EC) published in the Official Journal of the European union (OJ), notices from various member states including information of the Authorisation for State aid pursuant to Articles 87 and 88 of the EC Treaty Cases where the Commission raises no objections (2008/C 94/02).

The legal basis is the National Development Plan 2007-2013 and Ireland's National Rural Development Strategy 2007-2013 and it set to complete a duration of 6 years until 31st December 2008.

Forest Management Scheme will distribute aid to the forest sector in the form of direct grants. The authorities will dispose of a total budget of EUR 44,68 million The granting authority that will oversee proceedings is the Department of Agriculture and Food based in Dublin Ireland.

Ireland's National Rural Development Strategy 2007-2013 hold three main principles at its core:

  • Improving the competitiveness of the agricultural and forestry sector.
  • Improving the environment and the countryside.
  • The quality of life in rural areas and diversification of the rural economy.
