Marco Polo Conference in Venice
Next Marco Polo Conference will take place in Venice on 10/11 June 2008. The conference will give the latest information aobut the freight transport in Europe, present ongoing Marco Polo projects and the ingredients of their success and tell you how to apply for Marco Polo funding under future calls for project proposals.
Registration for this event will open mid-April 2008. This conference follows the Lisbon conference of December 2007 orgnanised by the Commission together with the Portuguese ports of Aveiro, Leixoes, Lisbon, Setubal and Sines.
What is Marco Polo II
Marco Polo II is the EC financial instrument used to improve the environmental performance of the freight transport system in Europe. The programme objetives are:
- To reduce congestion.
- To improve the environmental performance of the transport system and to enhance intermodal transport, thereby contributing to an efficient and sustainable transport system which provides EU added value without having a negative impact on economic, social or territorial cohesion.
