Application for Europa Nostra Awards 2012 is now open
The European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards celebrates a new edition in 2012. This initiative awards excellence and dedication by architects, craftsmen, volunteers, schools, local communities, heritage owners and media. Its aim is stimulate creativity and innovation. The deadline for submission of entries is until 1 October 2011.
The European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards celebrates exemplary restorations and initiatives of the many facets of Europe’s cultural heritage in four categories. These four categories are conservation, research, dedicated service by individuals or organisations and education, training and awareness-raising. This is an annual prize, thus, each year, up to six monetary awards of €10.000 each are awarded to the top laureates in the various categories.
Entries can be on a scale ranging from small to large, local to international, and should display a standard of work considered outstanding achievements in the field of heritage conservation and enhancement in a European context. Criteria for the assessment of entries include excellence in the work executed and preliminary research conducted, as well as respect for artistic, cultural and social value, setting, authenticity and integrity. Special attention will also be paid to sustainability, interpretation and presentation, educational work, funding and management, and social responsibility.
The application can be made through the entry forms available on the Europa Nostra website until the 1 October 2011.
