EESC analyses difficulties and challenges of European young entrepreneurs

Following on from the success of the 2009 edition of the event, the Employers’ Group of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) held a training seminar on 11-12 November 2010 for young entrepreneurs and potential future business leaders on the culture of entrepreneurship.

The seminar organised by the Employers’ Group of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) brought together young European entrepreneurs from 30 countries in the EU and neighbouring countries, and major EU stakeholders responsible for shaping the European business environment. Keynote speakers included representatives from the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, major European business organisations and organisations of young entrepreneurs.

The seminar included discussions on the role of the European Institutions and business organisations in supporting entrepreneurship, as well as some aspects of the challenging issue of the culture of entrepreneurship, which are all key elements of EU policies and instruments like the Small Business Act or that can be found among the objectives of the Youth on the move initiative.

During the two days of this Conference, participants expressed their voice and engaged in a constructive discussion to develop practical suggestions for promoting entrepreneurship in Europe, suggestions which will be passed on to business organisations and the EU institutions. Exchange of hands-on experience on setting up and running a business in the single market completed the seminar's agenda.

During the final debate, participants and speakers expressed their practical recommendations to be presented to business organisations and EU institutions with a view to highlighting potential opportunities for future business growth in Europe.
