4 M€ for policy dialogue on sustainable energy

The European Commission will allocate 4 million Euro to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and imports, to improve security of their energy supply in 13 countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russian Federation (as observer), Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

The overall objective of the project is to support the Inogate partner countries to reduce their dependency on fossil fuels and imports, to improve security of their energy supply and to allow them to contribute more actively to climate change mitigation. More specifically the project will assist those countries in strengthening energy institutional governance in relation to sustainable energy. It will also strengthen the regional policy dialogue on sustainable energy and improve the business climate for energy efficiency and renewable energy investments.

Budget and funding

The budget, 4 million euro, will be funded thought the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument, Regional East Action Programme 2010. Budget line 19.080103.
