Objectives

The general objectives of the Creative Europe programme are to:
  • Foster the safeguarding and promotion of European cultural and linguistic diversity.
  • Strengthen the competitiveness of the cultural and creative sectors with a view to promoting smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.

Actions

The EUPL, awarded annually since 2009 and uniquely focusing on new and emerging authors, aims to:

  • Showcase Europe’s wealth of contemporary fiction.
  • Raise awareness in the book sector about the literary diversity in Europe.
  • Raise the profile of authors outside their home country and help them reach broader readerships.
  • Enhance the whole book chain in Europe and promote publishing, translation, selling and reading of books from other European countries;
  • Encourage transnational circulation of literature.

 

This prize is to be seen in the wider context of the EU Creative Europe programme, which will provide further funding opportunities for the literature, literary translation and other cultural and creative sectors, with a view to helping authors, other artists and culture professionals to develop international careers and work across borders.

The Community provisional funding available for the call for proposals is:

  • 0,30 Million EUR (Global Budget)
