Call for proposals for LEIT – Protection of European assets in and from Space H2020-PROTEC-2014 Closed!

Objectives

Space research is supported in Horizon 2020 under the priority "Industrial Leadership", in line with the main objective and challenge to foster a cost-effective competitive and innovative space industry (including SMEs) and research community to develop and exploit space infrastructure to meet future Union policy and societal needs. Building on the successes of the Seventh Framework Programme, Horizon 2020 will enable the European space research community to develop innovative space technologies and operational concepts "from idea to demonstration in space", and to use space data for scientific, public, or commercial purposes.

Actions

Actions foreseen within this call for proposals include the following topics:

  • PROTEC-2-2014: Access technologies and characterisation for Near Earth Objects (NEOs). In order to conduct close approach missions to NEOs, or to undertake mitigating demonstrations, it will be necessary to have a number of specific technologies and instruments readily available to conduct missions to asteroids with very weak gravitational fields.
  • PROTEC-1-2014: Space Weather. In order to conduct close approach missions to NEOs, or to undertake mitigating demonstrations, it will be necessary to have a number of specific technologies and instruments readily available to conduct missions to asteroids with very weak gravitational fields.

The Community provisional funding available for the call for proposals is:

  • 8,00 Million EUR (Global Budget)
