Objectives

The Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (2014-2020) is implemented by specific programme and work programmes.
The “Excellent science” priority aims to reinforce and extend the excellence of the Union's science base and to consolidate the ERA in order to make the Union's research and innovation system more competitive on a global scale. It consists of four specific objectives, and this call for proposal is focused on:

"Research infrastructures" develops and support excellent European research infrastructures and assist them to contribute to the ERA by fostering their innovation potential, attracting world-level researchers and training human capital, and complement this with the related Union policy and international cooperation.

Actions

Actions foreseen within this call for proposals include the following topics:

  • INFRASUPP-8-2014: Network of National Contact Points. Facilitate trans-national co-operation between NCPs for research infrastructures with a view to identifying and sharing good practices and raising the general standard of support to programme applicants, taking into account the diversity of actors that make up the constituency of the Research Infrastructures Part. Support will be given to a consortium of formally nominated NCPs in the area of research infrastructures. The activities will be tailored according to the nature of the area, and the priorities of the NCPs concerned. Various mechanisms may be included, such as benchmarking, joint workshops, enhanced cross-border brokerage events, specific training linked to this Part as well as to gender dimension of Research and Innovation, and twinning schemes. Special attention will be given to enhance the competence of NCPs, including helping less experienced NCPs rapidly acquire the know-how accumulated in other countries. The focus throughout should be on issues specific to research infrastructures, and should not duplicate actions foreseen in the NCP network for quality standards and horizontal issues under ‘Science with and for Society’. In particular attention should be given to the promotion of trans-national and virtual access, the synergies with other NCPs networks, and the cooperation with other policy and international cooperation oriented measures for research infrastructures. The proposal should build on the past experience and achievements gained in the Seventh Framework Programme EuroRis-Net+ project.
