Call for Proposals - Smart Cities and Communities FP7-SMARTCITIES-2013 Closed!
Objectives
The aim is to develop and validate methodologies and tools to enable Distribution System Operators (DSOs) to take on new roles and evolve existing roles required by the increased number and volume of distributed energy resources connected to distribution networks. An important new role is observing and balancing of variable renewable generation and loads with decentralized flexible generation, active demand and local storage. It may also require congestion management and the provision of ancillary services. Network operationsand grid maintenance will need to be upgraded. Further roles include short- and long-term forecasting and long-term planning. The methods and tools should have a wide applicability in European contexts for both urban and rural areas.
