Call for proposals HEALTH-2010-single-stages - Cooperation Programme HEALTH-2011-single-stage Closed!


The general objetive of the FP7 Cooperation Work Programme in Health-2011 is to improve the health of European citizens and increasing the competitiveness and boost the innovative capacity of European health-related industries while businesses, and addres global health issues including emerging epidemics.

Emphasis will be put on translational research (translation of basic discoveries in clinical applications including scientific validation of experimental results) the development and validation of new therapies, methods for health promotion and prevention including promotion of child health healthy ageing, diagnostic tools and medical technologies, as well as sustainable and efficient healthcare systems.

The call address to four working areas:

1 Biotechnology, generic tools and medical technologies for human health.

This activity aims at developing and validating the necessary tools and technologies that will enable the production of new knowledge and its translation into practical applications in the area of health and medicine.

2. Translating research for human health

This activity aims at increasing knowledge of biological processes and mechanisms involved in normal health and in specific disease situations, to transpose this knowledge into clinical applications including disease control and treatment, and to ensure that clinical (including epidemiological) data guide further research.

3. Optimising the delivery of healthcare to european citizens.

  • HEALTH.2011.2.1.1-4: Population genetics studies on cardio-metabolic disorders in EU/AC and EECA populations.

2.2 Research on the brain and related diseases, human development  and ageing

2.2.1. Brain and brain-related diseases

  • HEALTH.2011.2.2.1-4: Creating clinical and molecular tools for experimental therapy of  paediatric neurodegenerative disorders causing childhood dementia in Europe and India.

2.3 Translational research in major infectious diseases: to confront major threats to  public health

2.3.1. Anti-microbial drug resistance

  • HEALTH.2011.2.3.1-2: Multidisciplinary research on the evolution and transfer of antibiotic resistance
  • HEALTH.2011.2.3.1-3: Management of Gram negative multi-drug resistant infections.

2.3.3 Emerging epidemics

  • HEALTH.2011.2.3.3-2: Comprehensive control of Dengue fever under changing climatic conditions

  • HEALTH.2011.3.3-3: Developing and implementing methods for the transfer of research into policy in the fields of health promotion and disease prevention.
  • HEALTH.2011.3.3-4: A road-map for mental health research in Europe.

3.4 international public health & health systems

  • HEALTH.2011.3.4-1: Development and assessment of comprehensive and integrated interventions and programmes to improve reproductive health and health equity.
  • HEALTH.2011.3.4-2: Building sustainable capacity for research for health and its social determinants in low and middle income countries.
  • HEALTH.2011.3.4-3: Multilateral cooperation between Europe, Africa and Latin America on public health and health services research.

4.1 Coordination and support actions across the theme 5.5

  • HEALTH.2011.4.1-1: Networking of major research institutions to  coordinate communication actions aimed at the media and the general public.
  • HEALTH.2011.4.1-2: Targeting publication bias.
  • HEALTH.2011.4.1-3: Linking EU and Latin American policy making institutions in the field of health research.
  • HEALTH.2011.4.1-4: Organisation of supporting actions and events related to the Presidency of the European Union.

The Community provisional funding available for the call for proposals is:
