Job vacancies as EC looks to fill Executive Director spots for Artemis and ENIAC joint undertakings
The European Commission has published, on the 28th of May 2008, two adverts to fill to job vacancies for Executive Director of the Artemis Joint Undertaking and Executive Director of the ENIAC Joint Undertaking.
The Executive Director is the legal representative and public face of the Joint Undertaking. He/she shall perform his/her tasks with independence and shall be accountable to the Governing Board. The Executive Director will lead and manage the Joint Undertaking and take overall responsibility for its operations. As such, he/she will play an important role in the implementation of the Joint Technology Initiative Artemis.
formal criteria to be fulfilled:
- Nationality: be a national of a Member State of the European Union, or of a country associated to the Seventh Research Framework Programme.
- University degree or diploma: have a level of education corresponding to a full university education, as evidenced by a diploma, where the normal duration of the studies in question is four years or more, in a field related to the duties.
- Professional experience: have at least 15 years' postgraduate experience at a level to which the qualifications referred to above give admission, of which five years must have been acquired in the domain of the Joint Undertaking activities.
- Management experience: have at least five years of professional experience gained in a high-level management function.
- Languages: a thorough knowledge of one of the official Community languages (3) and a satisfactory knowledge of a second of these languages to the extent necessary for the performance of his/her duties.
- Age limit: be able to complete the full three-year mandate before reaching retirement age. For temporary staff of the European Communities, retirement age is defined as being the end of the month in which the person reaches the age of 65.
The Director will be appointed by the Governing Board as a temporary agent at AD14 grade for a period of three years. After an evaluation of the Executive Director's performance, the Board may extend the term of office once for a further period of not more than four years.
