74 projects will receive almost €200 million in EU co-financing from the trans-European transport network

The European Commission announced the 74 projects that will receive almost €200 million in EU co-financing from the trans-European transport network (TEN-T). These 74 projects will use EU financial support for a variety of purposes, ranging from the construction and/or upgrade of current links, support of transport corridors, Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and innovative financial instruments.

Member States need to do more to ensure that the European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) deployment is on track

According to the European Commission, the establishing of a pan-European road toll payment system is suffering serious delays on Member States. The report adopted by the Commission concludes that the foreseen target date of 8 October 2012 for EETS availability to heavy duty vehicles will not be met.

The EU allocates additional €22 million to finance projects in Eastern neighbourhood

Public consultation launched on how to help victims of road accidents abroad

The European Commission launched a public consultation that has as main aim to help victims of cross-border traffic accidents. They may currently face difficulties because of varying time limits for claiming compensation for damage in case of an accident abroad in the EU. The contributions to the consultation can be made until 19 November.
