EC calls for experts to assist on the School Fruit Scheme

Further to the Commission Decision to create a Plan to to provide fruit and vegetables to school children as one of the ways to tackle children obesity, a call has now been launched in order to set up the group of experts for technical advice on the School Fruit Scheme. Candidates may submit their proposals by 29 November.

Time consuming and expensive cervical cancer screening will become a thing of the past thanks to breakthrough technology developed by EU-funded researchers. EU releases guidelines to reconcile wind energy development and biodiversity policy

The European Commission published on 29 October its Guidelines for wind energy development in protected natural areas. These guidelines will apply to the Natura 2000 network, a cornerstone of EU biodiversity policy and a key tool to achieve the EU target of halting and reversing biodiversity loss by 2020.

EU calls for a binding climate agreement to be reached in Cancún

The Heads of State and Government from the European Union, meeting in Brussels for the Autumn European Council, emphasized the need to reach a legally binding agreement on climate. In their conclusions, EU leaders underlined that it has become increasingly urgent to make progress in tackling climate change.
