Objectives

a) The incidence of HIV/AIDS among drug users is causing increasing concern in a series of Member States.

b) The importance of taking a strong stance against drugs trafficking at all levels.

c) The need for a trans-national and coherent approach in combating drugs trafficking has been reflected in the adoption of the Framework Decision laying down minimum provisions on the constituent elements of criminal acts and penalties in the field of drug trafficking

Actions

The actions are based on five priorities:

  • Coordination of anti-drugs policy at EU level;
  • Demand reduction;
  • Supply reduction;
  • International cooperation;
  • Information and research on drugs, and evaluation of the actions undertaken.
