The objective of an European Grouping of Territorial Cooperationshall be to facilitate and promote cross-border, transnational and/or interregional cooperation, hereinafter referred to as ‘territorial cooperation’, between its members as set out in Article 3(1), with the exclusive aim of strengthening economic and social cohesion.

The convention shall specify:

• Name and extent of the territory in which the EGTC may execute its tasks.
• Specific objective and tasks.
• List of the EGTC's members.
• Law applicable to the interpretation and enforcement of the convention.
• Appropriate arrangements for mutual recognition, including for the purposes of financial control.
• Procedures for amending the convention.
