Objectives
The sixth framework programme will be carried out to further the objective of strengthening the scientific and technological bases of Community industry and encouraging it to become more competitive at international level, while promoting all the research activities deemed necessary by virtue of other Chapters of this Treaty.
Actions
In order to achieve the objectives and contribute to the creation of the European Research Area and to innovation, this programme will be structured around the following three headings:
- Focusing and integrating Community research.
- Structuring the European Research Area.
- Strengthening the foundations of the European Research Area.
The VI FP will be developed through specific programmes, which will establish their specific objectives and rules for execution.
